Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between lone-
liness with self-esteem in female prostitutes. Subjects in
this study were women who work as prostitutes between the
ages of 20 years to 30 years, they have to pursue this work
for 1 more year, with the number of subjects as many as
100 people. The method in this study carried out by using
two data collection tools, namely Loneliness Scale and Self-
Esteem Scale. The results could be known at the Loneliness
Scale has a moving validity coecients ranging from 0.309
to 0.647 with 0.935 reliability. On Self-Esteem Scale has
a moving validity coecients ranging from 0.346 to 0.698
with 0.947 reliability. Based on data analysis performed
using Pearson Product Moment Correlation technique (1 -
tailed), the obtained value of the correlation coecient (r)
of - 0.226 with a signicance value of 0.012 (p <0.05). This
means there is a signicant negative relationship between
loneliness with self-esteem in female prostitutes. These re-
sults indicate that the hypothesis which says there is a rela-
tionship between loneliness with PSK self-esteem in women
is acceptable. This means that the higher the loneliness
experienced by sex workers, the lower the self esteem they
have. Vice versa, the lower the loneliness experienced by
sex workers, the higher self-esteem they have. But the dis-
cussion in this study, found that if the PSK is experiencing
loneliness is high, then high self-esteem, too. This is be-
cause of the attitude of certain groups that can accept and
appreciate their work, and also they can meet their own
needs without relying on others.
