A Comparative Study on the Meaning of Colors in Minang and British Cultures: A Semiotics Study

Abstract


In this research, the writer conducted a study con-
cerning a semiotics study entitled A Comparative Study on
the Meaning of Colors in Minang and British Cultures: A
Semiotics Study. The problems of the research are: What
are the meanings of colors red, black, white, yellow, green
and blue in Minang and British cultures. This research aims
at describing and giving an overview of the meaning of col-
ors red, black, white, yellow, green and blue in Minang and
British cultures. The study was using a qualitative method,
and the researcher selected a technique of interpretive de-
scriptive to the data. The writer described and analyzed
the meanings of colors in Minang and British cultures. The
result shows that there are similarities and dierences be-
tween the meanings of colors in the two cultures.
